The greatest joy of this journey

There have been many joys in this trip so far. Seeing friends and family. Great food (sometimes). Beautiful scenery. Seeing things I've always wanted to see. There have also been great difficulties, mostly all child related: unremitting crying in the car as we Must Push On, an inability to ever get enough sleep, being On from the time we wake up until the time we go to sleep every day without end.

But the greatest joy had been watching Alice. She has loved each place we've been so much and gotten so much education or fun or wonderment out of it. She loved our rest area yesterday because there was a bubble gum machine (her new fascination; I've shared with her that i was the Bubble Gum Queen as a child) and a 4 year old girl from Italy whom she ran around with. Motels are an endless source of fun. Lake and pools to swim in. New people to meet and charm. And she is just over the moon here at H's with the trampoline and chickens and barns and various other buildings and H's friend Hippie, whom Alice has damn near attached herself to. She doesn't want to nap for fear of missing something. It is a joy to behold her joy.
